About Scott

Head-shot of Scott JablowYou know me. I am your neighbor and current Mayor. My wife and I retired here in 2010, and I continue to demonstrate my commitment to Sedona, working my way through both appointed and elected positions in the community. I served on the Sedona Fire District Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Personnel Board and gained experience and understanding of the rules and regulations affecting city development, safety, and our human resources. I was elected Councilor twice, beginning in 2014, appointed Vice Mayor by the other council members in 2020, and elected as your Mayor in 2022.

My career began in law enforcement. I retired after 30 years in successive positions working for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. I hold a degree in criminal justice (University of New York-Farmingdale) and received specialized training through Northwestern University, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

I appreciate all my experiences in Sedona, but one that bridges my law enforcement background and ties me to Sedona is the 9/11 Memorial built in front of Sedona Fire District Station #6. I was able to negotiate the donation to Sedona of a 3000 lb girder from my old employer, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Working with the Fire Chief and a 5-person committee, I was the point person raising the private funding to design and build this unique reminder for Sedona without using a single tax dollar.
